How Many Tests Do Our Watches Have to Pass?

How Many Tests Do Our Watches Have to Pass?

September 28, 2018

There are so many watches out there in this world. How do you sort the good from the bad? There are plenty of "brands" out there that will rush production to give people watches that seem okay but turn out to be a disaster in the end.

Here at MODASI, there are 5 major on-site tests that we do to ensure our customers are receiving a high-quality watch.

1. Water Resistance Testing

Checking for water resistance is often one of the most important on-site tests for watches during an inspection.

As with any product claim, it’s important to validate water resistance to prevent unnecessary damage to the product during use.

Our watches have a 3 atm water resistance.

Splash resistant. Ok for rain, hand washing, and occasional contacts with water.

2. Accuracy Check for Watches

Rigorous accuracy tests allow us to make sure that your watch maintains precision and accuracy.

Our quartz watches are tested within a tolerance of ± 1 second.

3. Battery Check

Battery voltage is verified using a multimeter during an inspection. It's common to cut costs by using cheaper batteries, but we want to give our customers the benefits of a long-lasting watch.

4. Functions Testing

Basic function tests for watches are needed to ensure that the watch can withstand normal, everyday use and abuse.

1.  We all might have an accident with our watch sometimes, and we want to make sure they function perfectly afterward.

2. The crown should move smoothly when used. There should be no obvious movement or wobbling when it’s pushed in.

3. We check hand alignment by verifying the minute and hour hands (and second hand if present) align at 3, 6, 9, and 12.

5. Fatigue Test

When it comes to tests for watches, this one is especially important since watches are an item worn by the user and are typically meant to withstand prolonged continuous use. We ensure that the watch runs with no issues and that the crown and the wristbands are durable.
